Today the launch of Stompernet was delayed several times ... due to the data center getting totally slammed by all the traffic the StomperNet guys created for their unique offer.
How it happened
It all started 2 weeks ago when a secret webinar was held with 100's of affiliates, who had to sign an NDA agreeing not to release critical aspects of the launch.
So off we all went, to follow some of the exact techniques that the Stompernet guys are teaching in their new course.
So here we are today with Andy Jenkins cursing about their backbone issues.
Here's the problem: some of the Stompernet material is very good and combined with a lot of affiliates driving traffic and creating an "event", it causes more damage to a data center than hurricane Gustav.
Then combined with their juicy offer it's only reasonable to expect that they are now stuck with no way to get that offer out to people, due to the mayhem of affiliates sending more and more people to the launch site.
Many affiliates know that if they don't get their cookie dropped on someone's browser before they order, that the commission (on upsells, recurring memberships etc.) will go to some other affiliates. So the promotion keeps on coming as we get closer to the actual launch time.
In general it's ok to have some build up to a launch, but I think even the Stomper guys didn't want it to delay this long.
An actual twitter from Andy Jenkins recently said:
"Thanks for the support everyone. Believe me, this is NOT the way I want to build buzz. :)"
Hopefully the site opens up soon and we can all get our copy we're waiting for.
UPDATE: Latest update is 4:30pm EST but check here if the site is up yet.
Kudos to the Stomperteam for using an affiliate strategy to launch a product - hopefully it doesn't happen again :)--- (Edited on 9/3/2008 2:23 pm [GMT-0500] by Peter) ---
